 The Ohio State University has named Monica Moll its new Department of Public Safety director following a national search.

The course will teach participants about what it's like to protect and serve on campus. Participants will be trained on police policies, go on an officer ride-along and take part in scenarios.

The Ohio State University Police Division has named Kimberly Spears-McNatt its new deputy chief effective Friday, August 26. The former lieutenant is an Ohio State graduate and first joined OSUPD in 1994. In a corresponding move, Officer Brandon Yankanin has been promoted to lieutenant.

The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) has adopted and implemented state standards meant to strengthen relations between Ohio police agencies and the communities they serve.

Craig Stone is the newest chief of The Ohio State University Police Division.

Stone’s appointment comes a little more than one year after he was initially hired to serve as the university’s deputy chief. Stone later served as acting police chief following the retirement of Paul Denton in June 2015.

“I have learned a lot in my first year as a Buckeye,” Stone said. “My No. 1 priority continues to be the safety of our campus community and I look forward to continuing the meaningful partnerships our police division has with Ohio State’s students, faculty and staff.”

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Vernon Baisden, The Ohio State University Department of Public Safety Director and Assistant Vice President, will retire April 15, 2016, capping off a 15-year career at Ohio State.

“Ohio State has a very dedicated and professional police, security and emergency management staff,” Baisden said. “Our team works tirelessly every day to enhance the safety of the campus community, and I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside them for the last 15-plus years.”

The Ohio State University is officially StormReady, according to the National Weather Service. The designation highlights Ohio State’s commitment to alerting the campus community about severe weather.

“The safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors is our number one priority,” said Jay Kasey, senior vice president for the Office of Administration and Planning. “We are proud to become one of four Ohio universities to meet the high standards set forth by the National Weather Service.”

The Ohio State University Police Division swore in three new police officers during a ceremony on February 9. Officers Bruce Allen, Kyle Yeager and Chris Dzubak took the oath of office from Andraea Douglass, senior vice president in the Office of Human Resources.

Officer Allen graduated from Ohio State and previously worked as a trooper for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
