<none>|September 27, 2018The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct a nationwide test on the backup date of October 3 (10/3) because of response efforts to Hurricane Florence. During this time, wireless emergency alerts (WEA) compatible cell phones will receive a test message. This is not a Buckeye Alert, but many students, faculty and staff will receive the test message.
Buckeye Alerts Now Available Through ALERT Franklin County for non-OSU affiliates
<none>|July 19, 2018The Ohio State University and Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security have partnered to make Buckeye Alerts more commonly available to the general public. Previously, signing up for Buckeye Alerts was limited mostly to students, faculty and staff of the university. Now community members can elect to receive the alerts via the ALERT Franklin County system, a county-wide mass notification and warning system for residents of Franklin County.
Police Make Arrest in Kidnapping and Rape Investigation
<none>|June 28, 2018The Ohio State University Police Division has a suspect in custody in relation to the June 23 incident that led to a Public Safety Notice.
David W. Canter was arrested and charged with kidnapping and rape. The Ohio State University Police Division would like to thank the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Columbus Division of Police for assisting in the timely identification and apprehension of Mr. Canter.

OSUPD Welcomes New Deputy Chief
<none>|August 25, 2016The Ohio State University Police Division has named Kimberly Spears-McNatt its new deputy chief effective Friday, August 26. The former lieutenant is an Ohio State graduate and first joined OSUPD in 1994. In a corresponding move, Officer Brandon Yankanin has been promoted to lieutenant.

Craig Stone Appointed Chief of The Ohio State University Police Division
<none>|May 24, 2016Craig Stone is the newest chief of The Ohio State University Police Division.
Stone’s appointment comes a little more than one year after he was initially hired to serve as the university’s deputy chief. Stone later served as acting police chief following the retirement of Paul Denton in June 2015.
“I have learned a lot in my first year as a Buckeye,” Stone said. “My No. 1 priority continues to be the safety of our campus community and I look forward to continuing the meaningful partnerships our police division has with Ohio State’s students, faculty and staff.”
