As reported by NBC4i, new safety measures are in place on and around the campus of The Ohio State University.
Crews are in the process of installing surveillance cameras at the vehicle and pedestrian entrances and exits of every parking garage on campus.
Kristina M. Johnson, president of The Ohio State University, reminded the campus community to use the Community Crime Map tool to help stay aware of major crime in the off-campus area.
In her latest Health, Safety and Well-being Update video, Johnson said the decision to focus on the comprehensive map came after talking with students, parents and public safety experts.
In alignment with a recent independent report by Security Risk Management Consultants, and feedback from students, The Ohio State University evaluated the method through which the university shares off-campus crime information for the Columbus campus.
An external review of The Ohio State University’s expanded approach to off-campus safety praised the progress made to date and offered additional enhancements for the university and city of Columbus to consider.
“The off-campus safety measures Ohio State has implemented have been impactful and equal to, or greater than, its peers,” said Paul Denton, an external safety expert from Security Risk Management Consultants (SRMC).

The Ohio State University will invest an additional $2 million per year over the next decade to enhance safety and security on and around campus, President Kristina M.
