The Ohio State University and Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security have partnered to make Buckeye Alerts more commonly available to the general public. Previously, signing up for Buckeye Alerts was limited mostly to students, faculty and staff of the university. Now community members can elect to receive the alerts via the ALERT Franklin County system, a county-wide mass notification and warning system for residents of Franklin County.

- Ohio State affiliates are automatically registered if their cell phone is included in the university's Student Information System (BuckeyeLink) or PeopleSoft (faculty/staff). For more information, visit https://dps.osu.edu/alert-notices
