    The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) welcomed five new officers, James Bass, Calvin Cabarrus, Amanda Crowe, Megan Hale and Katie Demi, to the division with a pinning ceremony on July 26, 2024.

    “We’re excited to welcome these five exceptional officers to the division just in time to also welcome students back to campus for fall semester,” said Deputy Chief Eric Whiteside.

  • OSUPD Annual Awards

    The Ohio State University Police Division recognized several officers and a member of the community with its 2023 Annual Award Ceremony on May 5, 2024. 

    “We are honored to work at The Ohio State University,” said OSUPD Deputy Chief Eric Whiteside. “But I also believe this institution is lucky to have a group of well-trained officers who are truly committed to community policing.”

    The Officer of the Year Award was given to Adrienne Ward, after having two nomination letters sent in for her.

    An Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) officer isn’t just running races, he’s running a movement. With each step, he’s spreading awareness about the importance of police officer physical health. 

    “The community we serve deserves and expects us to be physically able to help them in their moment of need,” said Officer Randy Petit. “I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror if I was unable to help someone because I was physically unfit to aid them.”

    Monica Moll, director of public safety at The Ohio State University, recently sat on a forum to speak about campus safety. Held by The Chronicle of Higher Education, Moll was joined by Oregon State University Chief of Police Shanon Anderson and Steven Healy, CEO of The Healy Group. 

  • Ohio State campuses under severe weather threat

    The Columbus and regional campuses of The Ohio State University are under the threat of severe weather, including hail, high winds and tornadoes, this afternoon and evening.

    The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center warns a potentially substantial severe weather outbreak is possible today, including a few significant or long-track tornadoes, with the highest threat level concentrated over central Ohio.

  • Whiteside Graduates from FBI National Academy

    The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) Deputy Chief Eric Whiteside graduated as a member of the 289th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 15. Whiteside joins a handful of others from OSUPD to complete this prestigious program, including OSUPD Chief Kimberly Spears-McNatt and Monica Moll, director of the Department of Public Safety. Nationally, fewer than 1% of officers attend the program.

    The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) is seeking to renew its accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®).
