Whiteside Graduates from FBI National Academy

The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) Deputy Chief Eric Whiteside graduated as a member of the 289th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 15. Whiteside joins a handful of others from OSUPD to complete this prestigious program, including OSUPD Chief Kimberly Spears-McNatt and Monica Moll, director of the Department of Public Safety. Nationally, fewer than 1% of officers attend the program.

“I’m extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to represent OSUPD at the academy,” said Whiteside. “The experience was remarkable and rejuvenating. The lessons I learned and the friendships I made will help me be a better leader.”

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

The 289th session consisted of 197 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy.

Whiteside has been with Ohio State for more than 25 years and was appointed to the role of deputy chief in 2022.
