In the News: Surviving an Active Aggressor wins regional Emmy

Ohio State has won awards of all kinds for its academic achievements and athletic accomplishments. In August, it added an Emmy to the list.

Ohio State’s Department of Public Safety and WOSU Public Media won a regional Emmy for their work on “Surviving an Active Aggressor,” which was produced in 2018. 

Safety Video Wins Regional Emmy

One of The Ohio State University's best safety resources received regional honors this week. The university's Surviving an Active Aggressor video (watch), produced in 2018, won an Ohio Valley Chapter Emmy award in the category of Short Format Program - Informational.

Buckeye Alert System Test – 5/16

A Buckeye Alert system test will occur on Thursday (5/16). Students, faculty and staff on all Ohio State campuses will receive a text message that will be clearly identified as a test. If a Buckeye Alert is issued, information will also be posted at emergency.osu.edu. The system also sends severe weather alerts to the entire university community for tornado warnings. Ohio State prepares for severe weather with statewide tornado drill

Tornado sirens will sound across the Columbus and regional campuses of The Ohio State University Wednesday morning as a reminder of the state’s Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The annual statewide tornado drill is part of the effort to encourage Ohioans to learn what to do to protect themselves from spring and summer weather hazards, including home emergencies. That includes the campus community.

Be Prepared for March 20 Tornado Drill

Ohio’s Spring Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 17-23. Ohio State's Emergency Management and Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security will participate in a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 20, at 9:50 a.m. All are encouraged to participate and/or consider what to do during a tornado warning.
