Neighborhood Safety Notice -- April 22, 2017

Neighborhood Safety Notice:

We are sharing this news on behalf of the Columbus Division of Police for a crime that occurred in the off-campus area:

On 4/22/17, at approximately 1:10 a.m., Columbus Police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Summit Street between E. 14th Ave and E. 15th Ave. Reports indicate two female Ohio State students were approached by an unknown male with a handgun who demanded their purses. He then fled with their belongings in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a skinny, 22 to 25 year old male, standing 5’8” to 5’9” with brown hair, wearing a gray sweatshirt. 

Columbus Police is actively investigating and we encourage anyone with information related to this crime to call CPD at 614-645-4545. CPD and University Police will have increased patrols in the campus area and we encourage everyone to take extra precautions.

We remind you to increase your overall safety by being cautious and looking out for one another; being aware of your surroundings and looking assertive; walking with a trusted friend or co-worker, when possible; if a situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative.
