Safety Awareness Message (July 25, 2016)

On 7/24/16, Columbus Police responded to two armed robberies in the off-campus area. Reports indicate that at approximately 2 a.m., three females were approached by two black males at W. 8th Avenue and Neil Avenue. One suspect displayed a handgun before stealing money and fleeing the scene with his accomplice. Eighteen minutes later, at 2:18 a.m., reports indicate that a similar robbery occurred at Mt. Pleasant and E. 2nd Avenue. During the second incident, one of the two suspects pointed a gun at a female and threatened to shoot her prior to taking her wallet and cell phone. No injuries were reported. 

Both suspects are described as black males in their early 20’s, standing approximately 5’10” and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts pulled tight over their faces. Anyone with information related to these crimes is encouraged to call Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.
