Chief Dennis Jeffrey introduces himself to Buckeyes - saying safety is his top priority:
Hello, Buckeye Community! My name is Dennis Jeffrey and I'm the newly appointed chief of police for The Ohio State University Police Division. I'm excited for this opportunity and it's much more than a job for me, it's a fulfillment of a life-long goal.
I graduated from Ohio State University, as well as my wife and two of my three children. I grew up very close to Ohio State and enjoy the opportunity to be your chief.
At OSUPD safety is our top priority. We’re here to provide not only a visible and proactive presence but also a partnership based on open communication and educational outreach. We understand that campus policing is unique. Our role is to support and protect the community.
At OSUPD, we prioritize safety for all. Officers patrol day and night on campus. We also have a close working relationship with CPD knowing that many of our students live off campus.
For major events like football games or concerts, we coordinate with local, state and federal agencies to enhance safety. I have a history of working on creative solutions to help support issues like mental health. We understand as officers the many challenges our community faces.
My goal as chief is to continue the high standards set forth by my predecessor Chief Spears-McNatt. We will continue to have a focus on community policing.
If you see me or any of our officers around campus, please come say hello. We're here to be a resource to our community.
Go Bucks!
