In the News: University Resources for Active Threat

The Lantern published a story summarizing the many resources in place at Ohio State to prepare for, and respond to, potential active threats to campus. The Ohio State University Police Division and its officers train countless hours to be prepared for emergency situations and active aggressors. In the wake of the tragedy at Michigan State, The Lantern shared information about how Ohio State Emergency Management uses Buckeye Alerts to notify the campus when it needs to take immediate action to remain safe. The Buckeye Alert System consists of a dozen ways to notify the campus community, including text messages, app push alerts, social media and computer monitor takeovers on campus.

The university also has a Surviving an Active Aggressor video on the new student and staff orientation checklists which teaches the Run, Hide, Fight method.
