Neighborhood Safety Notice:
We are sharing the below information on behalf of the Columbus Division of Police for a crime that occurred in the off-campus area.
On 11/30/18, at approximately 8 p.m., an armed robbery occurred off-campus near Pearl Street and Chittenden Avenue. An unknown male suspect approached a male Ohio State student, displayed a silver handgun and stole a backpack and phone before fleeing. The student ran to a nearby parking garage to notify law enforcement. No injuries were reported.
The suspect was described as a black male with a light complexion in his early 20s. He is described as having short hair or a shaved head and standing 6’1” and weighing 160 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
The Columbus Division of Police is actively investigating and police will have extra patrols in the area. CPD encourages anyone with information related to this crime to call 614-645-4881 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-8477 (TIPS).
Crimes are never the fault of the victim. The Ohio State University Police Division encourages everyone to lock doors and windows. When possible, please walk with friends or coworkers and always be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Please utilize transportation services, when possible, and if you see something, say something: report suspicious behavior by calling police.
