Neighborhood Safety Notice:
We are sharing the below information on behalf of the Columbus Division of Police for a crime that occurred in the off-campus area.
On 8/4/18, at approximately 1 a.m., police were notified of an off-campus crime that took place on the 200 block of E. 15th Avenue. Two females not affiliated with the university reported that they were approached in an alley by an unknown male who presented a gun and demanded their purses. The suspect then fled southbound in a small silver/gray car. No injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a short, black male with short dreadlocks. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans with white writing displayed on the pants. The weapon is described as a small, silver gun.
The Columbus Division of Police is actively investigating and encourages anyone with information related to this crime to call CPD at 614-645-4881 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-8477 (TIPS).
Crimes are never the fault of the victim. The Ohio State University Police Division encourages everyone to lock doors and windows. When possible, please walk with friends or coworkers and always be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Please utilize transportation services, when possible, and if you see something, say something: report suspicious behavior by calling police.
