In the News: RapidSOS Assists in Police Response

As featured by 10TV News, OSUPD officers had the teenage suspect in custody within minutes of a fatal stabbing. 

"As we get notification on RapidSOS of the location of the 911 call, we, in turn, if we have any video in the surrounding area, we’ll start bringing up that information,” said Satoru Persons, director of communications security technology.

The university maintains nearly 6,000 cameras across campus, which officials say can be used to monitor incidents and assist in emergencies. Dispatchers can access high-resolution video feeds and zoom in on specific locations, potentially saving 15 to 30 seconds in response time.

“Every second can save lives, right?” Persons said. “So it’s very important to us to get that awareness and that response out as quickly as we can.”
