First responders from across Central Ohio were recognized and celebrated during First Responder Night at The Ohio State University men’s hockey game against Michigan State. The evening highlighted the strong partnerships that help keep the Buckeye community safe, both on and off campus.
Representatives from multiple agencies were in attendance, including the Columbus Division of Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. A special highlight of the night was the presence of multiple K-9 teams from different agencies, who were greeted by fans as they entered the Schottenstein Center to cheer on the Buckeyes.
The ceremonial puck drop was handled by OSUPD Officer Katie Demi and her therapy Buckeye Paw dog, Goose, who took to the ice to kick off the game.
“This night is about recognizing the incredible teamwork and collaboration we have with our area agency partners,” said OSUPD Chief Dennis Jeffrey. “These partnerships are essential to keeping the Buckeye community and our surrounding neighborhoods safe every day.”
First Responder Night served as a meaningful reminder of the shared commitment to service, safety, and community that unites our agencies.
