The Ohio State University Police Division's (OSUPD) Joint Patrol unit was recently featured in an article by the Lantern.
"Joint Patrol and its expansion are part of a comprehensive appraoch to safety both on and off campus, which has led to a steady decrease in crime in the University District," said Dan Hedman, university spokesperson.
The program specifically focuses on campus and student-related incidents. These officers also participate in community engagement and outreach to make the community aware of their resources for students.
"Having us work together on these calls just provices a seamless kind of transition between police resources and the non-police university resources," said OSUPD Officer Tom Schneider.
