OSUPD Helps Light Ohio Blue

The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) joined law enforcement agencies across the Buckeye State on May 6, 2026, in the annual Light Ohio Blue Memorial Caravan. The event is a statewide tribute honoring officers who died in the line of duty.

“We’re honored to ride alongside our law enforcement partners across Ohio in remembrance of the officers who gave their lives in service to others,” said OSUPD Chief Dennis Jeffrey. “The Light Ohio Blue Memorial Caravan is a powerful reminder that their sacrifice will never be forgotten and that the law enforcement community remains united in supporting their families, friends and colleagues they left behind."

Patrol vehicles traveled with their blue lights on through communities across Ohio in a public display of remembrance and solidarity.

Light Ohio Blue began in 2016 as a single gesture of support and has since grown into a movement uniting all 88 counties under one mission. Businesses across the state illuminate skylines and buildings in blue, while residents are encouraged to change exterior lighting at homes and businesses to blue.
