Police Make Arrests Related to Residence Hall Burglaries

The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD) has arrested three suspects for burglary in relation to the October 28, 2024 Public Safety Notice that alerted the community about five burglaries, four of which occurred inside campus residence halls. All three suspects are juveniles, and they are not Ohio State community members, meaning they are not students, faculty or staff.

The investigation continues and the safety of our campus community remains our top priority. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to call OSUPD at 614-292-2121.

Crimes are never the fault of a victim. Police advise students living in residence halls not to let anyone inside without proper authorization. Ohio State’s residence halls are designed to allow access only to those with a properly coded BuckID. Do not hold the door for others, make everyone swipe to enter and help prioritize the safety and the security of your property and your neighbors. Inside residence halls, do not leave individual residence hall rooms unlocked when the room is unattended. Avoid leaving cash, gift cards or other valuables in plain sight. Victims of crime are never at fault for the criminal actions of others, however, one way we can all fight instances of crime like this is to be hyper-vigilant and supportive of the broader residential community.

If you see something suspicious, report it to police by calling OSUPD at 614-292-2121. Always dial 9-1-1 in emergencies.
