Monica Moll has been promoted to associate vice president of The Ohio State University’s Department of Public Safety. In addition to the promotion, Moll will serve as interim chief of police following Kimberly Spears-McNatt’s departure on August 26.
Moll joined Ohio State as director of public safety in 2016 and will continue to oversee its five divisions as associate vice president:
- The Ohio State University Police Division (OSUPD)
- Communications and Security Technology
- Central Campus Security Services
- Wexner Medical Center Security
- Emergency Management and Fire Prevention
The Department of Public Safety has more than 300 staff, including an authorized strength of 75 sworn police.
“Monica continues to prioritize safety for all Buckeyes by growing our sworn police staffing and integrating new safety resources to deter crime,” said Mark Conselyea, interim senior vice president of the Office of Administration and Planning. “Her promotion to associate vice president is well deserved and I have every confidence in her as interim chief.”
Current OSUPD chief Kimberly Spears-McNatt is retiring after 30 years. The university is actively conducting a national search for a new chief and Moll will oversee the division with support from deputy chiefs Dennis Jeffrey and Eric Whiteside.
