Mirror Lake Safety

The 2020 autumn semester will present many new challenges but the Department of Public Safety's focus on safety remains the same. In addition to return to campus safety protocols surrounding masking, physical distancing and hygiene, the university is reminding everyone that Mirror Lake is not intended or approved for recreational use on any kind.

Over the summer, The Ohio State University Police Division saw an uptick in incidents at Mirror Lake. Swimming wading or entering the water is not permitted. Entering the lake basin is both destructive and hazardous and is considered criminal trespassing. University Police actively patrol the area and will cite violators. Students will also be referred to Student Conduct.

Signage is in place near the lake and messaging will be shared with students, faculty and staff in e-newsletters and on social media.
