OSUPD Promotes Officer Shaul to Lieutenant

The Ohio State University Police Division has promoted Joanna Shaul from officer to lieutenant effective Monday, November 27. Shaul has served as an officer with OSUPD since 2010.

“I’ve worked with law enforcement throughout the state, and the people I work with here at Ohio State are the finest I’ve worked with,” Shaul said. “It’s honor to represent this group in this capacity.”

Shaul received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio State in Criminology. She later earned a law degree from Capital University in 2014 and was admitted to the Ohio Bar. Shaul started her career with OSUPD as a Student Safety Service officer in 2002. She also has experience as a student dispatcher and a records manager with OSUPD. Prior to being hired as an OSUPD officer in 2010, Shaul worked as a communications technician with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and then as an officer with the Grandview Heights Police Department.

Since working as an OSUPD officer, Shaul has served as a R.A.D. instructor, Personal Protection Team member and a Field Training officer. Shaul might be best known as one of three K-9 handlers, working with K9 Rita. Click to view the A&People video of Shaul and K9 Rita.
